Each LoPoint marks the location and category of a particular place and contains additional information - e.g. opening hours, WWW, phone number, and other attributes. They are based on OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia from which they take descriptions and photos. Locus Map users can add their own photos to LoPoints to make them more attractive and up-to-date. ==== LoPoint detail ==== When you tap a LoPoint on the map, its detail panel pops up. It displays the distance from your location, its elevation and a lot of information important for tourists including Wikipedia or user photos:\\ {{ :manual:ios18.jpg?nolink |}}\\ Another swipe-up reveals the whole information tab:\\ {{ :manual:ios19.jpg?nolink |}} ==== User photos ==== Photos are the greatest means of **inspiration** for other hikers, cyclists and other travelers **to discover** interesting places on the map. The most known objects are often accompanied by **Wikipedia** photos but the others can be equipped with snaps from **Locus users**. You can add your own pics but you can also browse and rate photos of others. === Adding === If you decide to **inspire through your photos**, you can do so this way: * tap LoPoint on the map and a panel with details will pop up * tap the **camera button**:\\ {{ :manual:ios20.jpg?nolink |}} * select the option to either **take the photo** now or **choose a photo** from the gallery that is already taken:\\ {{ :manual:ios21.jpg?nolink |}} * after confirming the photo or gallery selection you can **add more** snaps if you have them * close the dialog, the photos will start **uploading in the background** and you can continue to use the app normally This can also be done **offline**. The photos are kept in temporary memory and uploaded when you get online. **All photos are checked** by the Locus team before attaching them to LoPoints. It takes up to two workdays. We recommend you follow the **[[https://www.locusmap.app/lopoints-photos/|best practices for adding your photos >>]]** === Browsing and rating === When you come across a LoPoint photo you like and you want to see more from the same photographer you can **visit his/her personal gallery**: * tap a photo to see it in **detail**:\\ {{ :manual:ios22.jpg?nolink |}} * tap the author's **name**:\\ {{ :manual:ios23.jpg?nolink |}} * the **gallery** opens. * you can see the numbers of views and ratings, and you can also **sort the photos**:\\ {{ :manual:ios24.jpg?nolink |}} * if you like some of the photos you can **rate them too** (you have to be logged in to your [[manual:user_guide:locus_store:user_profile|Locus account]]):\\ {{ :manual:ios25.jpg?nolink |}} ===== Search ===== Locus Map Lite offers an online search of places, addresses, and categories of LoPoints. ==== Autocomplete ==== Clicking the search button will bring up a **predefined list of categories** of places that may be most useful to the typical outdoor fan.\\ {{ :manual:ios26.jpg?nolink |}} So if you’re not looking for a particular place, you can choose from the list. As you scroll the map, the next points in the category will load automatically. In the bottom panel, the locations are sorted in a list that you can slide out to the full page and browse locations by name. The first item at the top is highlighted on the map:\\ {{ :manual:ios28.jpg?nolink |}} If you’re looking for a **specific place or an address**, start typing your query in the search box. As soon as you enter the first letters of your query, Locus already **suggests relevant categories and places** you searched for earlier. It tries to guess what you are looking for and continuously offers other options containing the given character string:\\ {{ :manual:ios30.jpg?nolink |}} The choices are offered until you click on something or until you complete your search query. ==== Text search ==== If you don’t make a selection in the autocomplete and click on the "Open" button on the keyboard, Locus starts **searching according to the specified string**, even in areas that the search engine hasn’t offered before.\\ {{ :manual:ios29.png?nolink |}} The results are displayed in order of importance and sorted in a list below the map. The panel can be enlarged to full screen and browsed again. You can specify the search area by clicking on **Search this area**:\\ {{ :manual:ios33.jpg?nolink |}} If you move the map elsewhere or zoom out, you can again **change the search area by clicking on the button** (the results are not automatically loaded on the map in this case). ==== Search results ==== When you tap on the specific place you found on the map or in the list, the object is centered on the map, and its detailed information is displayed in the panel below the map.\\ {{ :manual:ios31.jpg?nolink |}} Use the left arrow on the panel to return to the search, or slide the panel down to end the search. ==== History ==== Your previously searched queries are offered to you in the autocomplete in preference to point categories:\\ {{ :manual:ios32.jpg?nolink |}} If you no longer use the search items, you can simply delete them from the history with {{:manual:user_guide:ic_delete_alt.png?nolink&20|}}. ---- ===== Track recording ===== Do you want to keep track of your workout or show your trip to your buddies?
