Location Picker

The location picker is a very important part of Locus Map. Over 20 activities link to it to define locations of points, map centers, search spots, and so on. It is always triggered in a particular situation by tapping the Location section (sometimes labeled “Location”, sometimes not).

The location field consists of two parts - the picker (1) and a button (2), opening the coordinates dialog. It can be empty or pre-filled depending on the situation.

The picker is integrated into the general POI/address search screen so that you can search for the desired location, if applicable, also among POIs and addresses.

• 2 - a list of recently used locations

To search for the location, start entering the characters into the search field and choose items offered by the autocomplete (see more here >>)

To select a new location, swipe the scrollbar (1) right or left and tap the desired method:

• Screen center - selects the current position of the cursor in the map screen center
• My location uses the current GPS location of your phone or tablet. Requires a correct GPS fix.
• My points - opens your Library of points for selection
• Select on map - switches to a new map screen where it is possible either to tap the position directly on the map (1: tap > Tap to select) or, more precisely, aim the screen center cursor (2) at the position and confirm by the check button (3).
• Coordinates - switches the Coordinates Edit Dialog to enter datum and exact coordinates
• Contact - offers a selection of your contacts with postal addresses
• Projection - defines the start point, distance, and azimuth of the projected point to locate
• Stabilized GPS - starts acquiring the current location with the phone's GNSS unit, records several locations, and calculates their spatial average. This way, the overall GPS deviation is minimized.
  

If you copy e.g. coordinates from out of Locus Map or from another location, the coords are pasted under the location picker scrollbar:

The last used locations are listed under the picker scrollbar, clipboard and custom location:

Each of the items can be deleted with a “trash” button.

The location picker scrollbar can be customized according to your needs.

• Swipe the scrollbar to the right, tap the edit button and select Location sources:
  
• Check and uncheck the methods to add and remove from the list, drag&drop them up/down by the left edge to change their order:
  

Select Custom location from the edit menu:
. This way, it is possible to define a new button in the list for a comfortable and fast custom location:

• Icon&name - select the icon and name of your custom method
• Location - select the method or a point of your customized location
• Tap SAVE, and a new item appears in the list:
  
  To remove it, tap the action menu in the list and tap Delete:
  

This dialog is useful when you know exact coordinates or if you need to convert coordinates from one system to another.

• select coordinate system (e.g. WGS x°x.x' for geocaching)
• enter coordinates

When converting, select the source coordinate system, enter coordinates, and select the output system; Locus Map recalculates coordinates.

Locus Map supports a wide range of the World coordinate systems:

• WGS - the most common system - basic latitude/longitude in three used formats
