====== Moving Locus to another phone or tablet ======

You have purchased **a new mobile or tablet**. Or you are getting ready for a **factory reset**. Follow the instructions on how to move Locus Map, its settings and all its data (maps, tracks, points) safely into the new (or freshly restored) device:

===== 1. The old phone =====
  * change the location of the **[[manual:user_guide:settings:backup_fsys#set_custom_sub-directories|custom subdirectories]]** (if you have any) to **the default within the main app's directory**
  * open the **[[..:user_guide:settings:backup_fsys#backup_manager|Backup manager]]** and create a **[[..:user_guide:settings:backup_fsys#app_migration_backup|app migration backup]]**. During the process, tap the **Share** button and store the backup file on Dropbox, or OneDrive
===== 2. The new phone =====

  * **install** Locus Map
  * open the **Backup manager** and **[[manual:user_guide:settings:backup_fsys#restore_from_backup|restore]]** the backup file you stored on Dropbox or OneDrive
  * **restart** Locus Map
