====== How to migrate from Locus Map Classic to Locus Map 4 ======

Locus Map is a complex software with many customization options. Before the transfer of your data from Locus Map Classic to Locus Map 4, please pay attention to the following:

  * **[[manual:user_guide:settings:backup_fsys#set_the_main_directory|Move the main app directory]] to the internal storage of your phone or tablet.**
  * **[[manual:user_guide:settings:backup_fsys#set_custom_sub-directories|Set all custom subdirectories to the default]] within the main app directory.**

===== Seamless upgrade =====

**Valid for Locus Map Classic version 3.70.17 and newer.** Please update your app to this version before proceeding.

  * Tap **Upgrade to Locus Map 4!** in the Locus Map Classic main menu
  * You are redirected to Google Play to **install Locus Map 4** (if you have already installed Locus Map 4 before, this step is skipped). After installing LM4, get back to LM Classic.
  * Back in Locus Map Classic, a **migration backup file is automatically created**. It contains all your data – tracks, routes, points, maps and settings
  * When done, Locus Map 4 is started and the **migration backup is restored** in it

To get the discount of 100% on Premium Silver and 50% on Premium Gold, log in with the same Locus account you used in Locus Map Classic.

===== Android 6 - 10 =====

  * **It is not possible to use both Locus Map 4 and Locus Map Classic with one shared directory.** LM 4 uses a different database structure. Installing LM 4 in the same directory converts the database to LM 4 version and disables LM Classic from reading the database.
  * To prevent converting the LM Classic Library, **make sure the main directory of Locus Map Classic is moved to the private sector in the Android/data folder** before installing Locus Map 4.
