Guidance


About

Off-road, beeline guiding to a selected place, independent on road network. Used especially for orientation in free terrain.

Typically useful for finding geocaches or directing towards user's points of interest and LoPoints (remote viewpoint, waterfall etc.):

How to guide? Select the target and start guiding to it from its bottom menu:

Target selection

Directly on the map

  1. tap a LoPoint, a user point or any other point on the map, or hold your finger on the place on the map where you want to be guided to. The detail screen slides up.
  2. tap the guidance button in the bottom bar:

Points from the Library

Use e.g., in case you want to be guided to some geocache from your database:

  1. select the point from the Library
  2. tap it to display the point detail screen
  3. tap guidance button from the bottom panel:

Controlling

Point guidance panel

It displays the name of the point, its distance, and direction. Tapping the panel displays the point detail screen.

Panel menu

  • Details - opens screen with the point details
  • Guide Off - stops guidance
  • Compass - switches into compass view. The arrow on the compass rose points to the guidance target. Distance and est. time to the target are below:

Target notifications

Locus Map Lite can notify you of an approaching target in several ways:

  • once within a defined distance from the target
  • repeatedly after you reach a defined distance
  • with increasing frequency of alerts in dependence on your distance from the target (the faster, the closer you are)

Settings

  • go to Menu > Settings > Guidance
  • Switch on Notify when the destination is reached
  • Set the alert distance you want to be alerted at
  • Select alert type - sound or system notification
  • Set frequency of beeps - fixed or increasing
